About Carrie McGovern
Hi, I’m Carrie McGovern, a contemporary romance author from Sunderland - originally Yorkshire, but I think being here for 30 years qualifies me as an honorary Mackem. I’ve published three novels and a novella in my debut Hello Series, where awkward meet-cutes and emotional chaos reign supreme. I’m currently working on a second series because, apparently, I thrive enemies to lover’s banter.
I’ve always loved writing, even if I took a detour after graduating from the University of Sunderland. Life happened, anxiety happened, and writing got shelved for a while. But more recently, books became my escape from the noise in my head, and eventually, I started creating the kind of stories I wanted to read. Stories filled with love, friendship, and characters who deserve both.
Messy, Heartfelt Romance
I write strong women, supportive men, and the kind of messy, heartfelt romance that makes you laugh, cry, and maybe yell at the page a little. My first book was inspired by women like me, because often invisible, we deserve to be the main character too.
I love supporting other creatives and I’m passionate about my city and the North East (even setting books and characters here), I live with a cat who judges everything I do, and have a house full of boys, I love sending dirty memes to friends and love and hate socialising in equal measures.
